Psalm 27: 1&14

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ... Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage.   Wait for the Lord.”

So, we come to a one year remembrance, and the honest among us acknowledge that the safety and security we banked on prior to 9/11/01 has disappeared.  It seems we must learn to live with a feeling our ancestors took for granted - that neither emotional nor physical security can be assumed or assured.  It is to times as these that the Psalmist speaks - reminding us to keep the faith and count on a strength of heart beyond our own.  For, in the end,, “The Lord is our light and our salvation.”  May this affirmation kindle new courage for the faithful living of these days.  Thanks be to God!
