2 Corinthians 4:16-18

“So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”

According to many of the shows on network and cable television people are not only willing, but actually eager, to undergo extreme makeovers. Following plastic surgery, botox injections, new hair styling, and a new wardrobe a person’s appearance can change dramatically. In addition, apartments, homes, and kitchens are given makeovers by interior designers and teams of friends. The underlying messages seem to be: “you should look better,” “you should dress better,” “you should live better,” and “you should feel better about yourself.” To a disciple of Jesus Christ the desire for an extreme makeover should not come as something new, and we are well aware that it’s something that takes place within us and not in our appearance. In fact, the most profound extreme makeover takes place when the presence of Jesus Christ in our lives transforms our thoughts, feelings, and actions. In order to continue the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ “our inner nature is being renewed day by day.” Thanks be to God!

Psalm 23:1-3

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie
down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he
restores my soul.

He restores my soul. When we've reached that point where we can't go on, God
blesses us with strength to just keep on walking.

When we're in a struggle and things are tough, his power upholds us and we run to victory.

When we're winning victories in his name, we can soar on
wings like eagles.

He is a shepherd and more. He is the Rock and Sustainer of our lives!

PRAYER:
O Gentle Shepherd, help me rest tonight in your grace and in the
confidence that you are nearby.  In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
