| Matthew 5 Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit. We are familiar with "Beatitudes" from Jesus’ words in Matthew 5. He was reiterating what God’s people had long known: the Lord who has determined the cycles of nature guarantees blessing to people who trust that Lord. Genesis 1 declares that persons are the crown of God’s creation, and surely the Creator will treat them with the same faithfulness that brings green leaves on growing tree. They will be blessed.
