John 4:42

"They said to the woman, "It is no longer because of what you said that we
believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the
Savior of the world."

"Living Water"
----------------------------------------------------------

In John 4 Jesus meets a Samaritan woman, who is drawing water at Jacob’s well.
In conversation he tells her that he could give her “living water, which she
misinterprets to be what we might call “running” water. Jesus’ “living water,”
however, will be “a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” Water is
essential to life, and Jesus is saying that he can provide what is far more
fundamental than H2O.  Jesus visited in the woman’s city, and many of the people
there came to “know that this is truly the Savior of the world” (v. 42). Jesus
took the most everyday experiences to point to the most basic realities of life.
