Barbara Anne Keely

Barbara Anne Keely is Associate Professor of Christian Education at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. She is a graduate of the University of Washington (B.A., M.A. in speech communication and group process), Princeton Theological Seminary (M. Div) and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (Ed. D.) She teaches in the areas of Christian Education, spiritual formation, group process and church administration.
An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Dr. Keely serves as parish associate at Presbyterian Church of the Way in Shoreview, Minnesota. Her responsibilities there include preaching and teaching adult classes. Dr. Keely is also an oblate of the Order of St. Benedict, associated with St. John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota. Her publications include Faith of our Foremothers: Women Reshaping Religious Education (Westminster/John Knox, 1997) and she is presently the Christian education columnist for "The Clergy Journal." Dr. Keely is a frequent keynote speaker and workshop leader in the areas of adult education and spiritual formation in the congregation.
In addition to her teaching and denominational involvement, Dr. Keely likes to sew, read novels, and work on her golf game. Gifted with friends who share her interests, she enjoys live theater, classical music concerts and operas. With such a full life, she says she is always happy to let a restaurant do the cooking!
