M. Thomas Norwood, Jr.

M. Thomas Norwood, Jr. is a native of Durham, North Carolina. He holds degrees from Davidson College, Columbia Theological Seminary, and Yale University. An ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), he served two churches in Mississippi before joining the leadership team in the development office at Davidson College in 1988. Tom and his colleagues completed a $160 million capital campaign, at the time the largest campaign ever undertaken by a private liberal arts college.
In 1997 Tom founded Davidson Consulting Group, a full-service fund raising consulting firm that assisted churches and other non-profits with stewardship programs, funds development, and capital campaigns. In 2006 Davidson Consulting Group merged with Capstone Advancement Partners to form one of the largest consulting firms in the Southeast.
Tom also completed a career as a KC-10 instructor Pilot/Aircraft Commander in the Air Force Reserve, retiring from the 78th Air Refueling Squadron at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey. During this service he participated in many major military and humanitarian operations, including Desert Storm and the Somalia food relief effort.
Tom is the author of the Kerygma study Beginnings: the Call of God in Genesis. He serves on the Editorial Board and conducts Kerygma Workshops throughout the country. He also is author of Pentecost I in the Proclamation series published by Augsburg/Fortress Press and has written numerous reviews and articles in theological journals.
Tom and his wife Louise have two grown children and live in Davidson, North Carolina. He is an avid runner and enjoys reading, listening to classical music and going to movies.
